Terexov F/W 2008

I’m not sure what Terexov means in Russian, if it even means anything, but the designer’s last name is Terekhov. Everyone around me (mostly Russian) was saying they were at the “TER-a-kov” show. So I’m thinking the label is not pronounced “ter-REX-off”.
Anyway, he started out the first half of the collection with a series of black, grey, and red pieces. There were lots of fitted skirt suits and knee length belted dresses and coats. Then the palette changed and the colors reminded me of a peacock: teals and burgundies, with a couple neutrals mixed in. Everything from the collection is very simplistically ladylike; fitted but no frills. Very wearable.

Project Runway Finale

I'll have pictures of the Project Runway Finale show up soon, I promise! Victoria Beckham is the guest judge!
Attention, the following links will ALL be spoilers, please think long and hard before you click on one! I will add a new set of designer photos each day at the minimum. By checking out the collections you will NOT know who's in the top 3 as they showed decoys as well.

Iodice F/W 2008

I went to the Iodice show yesterday as well! But my camera died, so you'll have to wait for pictures :(
A Brazilian line created by Valdemar Iodice, the collection shown was entitled Graffiti - Street Art. The only "celebrity" I saw there was Miss NYC, but I know Rose McGowen and Amy Smart were supposed to attend, maybe they were hiding.
The show was good, I saw more tall collars, billowy sleeves and defined waists. Colors were indigo, yellow, pink, silver and black. Most of the models were wearing long, past elbow gloves, I think that will be in style for Fall again.
I noticed shoulder cutouts like some of the tops at the Victorya Hong show, think that will end up a trend? Would you wear it? There was also a lot of sheer panels, usually alternating with shiny PVC panels, which I thought was odd for a Fall / Winter collection. There were also sequins, which I haven't seen much of in any other collection, though I suppose Brazil tends to be a season or two behind the States.
I'll try to get pictures up as soon as possible for you!
UPDATE: Yay, finally found some good shots by Nicholas Roberts!

Jayson Brunsdon F/W 2008

Jayson Brunsdon recently was awarded Australian Eveningwear Designer by Harpers Bazaar Australia. I loved loved LOVED his S/S collection (especially the print pieces), so I was excited to see what he had to offer for Fall.
The collection was Parisian inspired and had lots of black stretch satin, merino wool and great printed silk frocks. I was also interested to see some models wearing flat jazz shoes, which looked really cute, and I was horrified to see some tights over leotard no pants looks. If Sienna Miller can't pull that off, no one can honey. And what's with the finger tip gloves??? The collection was mostly black, but the prints were bright and cute, and there was some red on occasion as well. Here are my pictures! I'm leaving tomorrow so I doubt I'll have time to post. I've had a great week, but I look forward to getting back to regular life. Ciao!

Custo Barcelona F/W 2008

Custo Barcelona is one of my favorite labels, but I have to admit that many of their pieces, especially runway, aren't very wearable. I do like how they don't seem to care about trends or any of that nonsense, though I did see lots of slouchy cacoon coats and oversized collars. The vibe was kinda boho tech, lots of fringe and neon pops. And I loved the metallic treads running through the fabrics, contrasting with the dark colors. Her are some pictures though my shots aren't very good. The show was so crowded that people were actually sitting in the aisles!

Twinkle by Wenlan F/W 2008

The Twinkle by Wenlan collection was very enjoyable. The styles were similar to previous collections, which is a positive note. (I hate, for example, when a designer designs feminine collections for several seasons then designs based on some random inspiration and the collection turns out retro grunge or something.) The color palette featured lots of greys with a peek of color here and there. I loved the subtle bishop sleeves (big poofs don’t work for someone of my stature). Most pieces were well-tailored and fitted, esp. at the waist, minus the menswear-inspired slouchy pants and the knit cardigans at the end. There were lots of elements that made her collection so unique but coherent within the collection. After reviewing the pics I took at the show, Vyque pointed out that the tights were ombre – how cool is that?? Loved all the tights (esp. the steel blue one) and how they fit so well with the outfits. My favorites are shown below.

Tuleh F/W 2008

The Tuleh collection is probably my favorite of the ones I attended. Bryan Bradley usually designs a feminine collection with a touch of quirky-fun, and this collection was no different. There were lots of knee-length coats (which could totally be worn as coat-dresses!) and color. Thank you, Bryan, for staying away from the typical all black/grey/navy/purple for fall! Also note the bishop sleeves and fitted waists. I love fabric flowers (I made my own pale pink silk rose on a necklace for my wedding in June ‘07) so I was pleasantly surprised to see dimensional flowers on the scarves! I am in love with many pieces from this collection; try look 13 (looove the cool, vibrant blue for winter - must buy that coat!), look 19, look 22 (fuschia’s still hot!), and look 29.
P.S. I got unbelievably lucky – I sat in the second row because there were a few vacant seats and the two seats in the row in front were also vacant so I had an unobstructed view. Perfect!

Peter Som S/S AND F/W 2008

So I went to an AMEX sponsored Peter Som show tonight, which was filled with people who could actually buy tickets and were doing annoying things like standing up to take pictures during the show when other people were sitting behind them. Luckily, I was in the second row, so I didn't have any problems, and got some pretty good shots!
The first half of the show was Peter Som's Spring / Summer 2008 line, which was full of pale, icy blues and pinks, silvers and then some bright poppy reds. Lots of silk chiffon and organza, pretty tulle, the S/S 2008 is very fresh and feminine. Here are of my favorite pieces:

As for the Fall / Winter 2008 collection, there wre lots of tweeds, plaids, long sweaters and full swishy skirts. I saw more slouchy coats and big collars (though folded over) too!

Richard Chai F/W 2008

An Ecco Domani Fashion Foundation winner (and one of People’s 2004 Sexiest Men Alive) Richard Chai has worked for Marc Jacobs, Donna Karen, and TSE, before launching his own line in 2004. Since then he's become more and more of an industry darling, with wearable collections that are subtly feminine.

This collection had colors of burnt orange, midnight blue, purple and bright bits of red. Fabrics included cashmere, wool, silk, leather, fur, and, oddly enough, linen. I usually think of linen as a Spring / Summer material, but it worked visually with the collection. There were also some floaty silk crinkled chiffon pieces in oyster print, so maybe he had early Fall in mind.

I think my favorite pieces were the slouchy skinny pants, a very fun silhouette. I vaguely recall Michael Kors doing the slouchy skinny pants awhile ago, but it feels new again. You can shop for his designs in Barneys... in-store only it looks like.

Here are some pictures!

Tiffany Koury F/W 2008

The other show I went to today was Tiffany Koury. This medieval-inspired collection of frocks had colors of black, gold and dark purple. I believe each dress was mostly silk, and had quite lovely draping and detailing going on. It's a very girly line, with lots of ruffles, flutter sleeves and swishy shapes. Check out some of the crowd's favorites (measured by response as heard by me).

Doucette Duvall F/W 2008

I first heard about Doucette Duvall from Nylon, so I was really excited to attend their show today. Created by designers Stephanie Doucette and Annebet Douvall, you can buy the pieces at Indie Coterie, Label Spree and many other stores.
The show was like their previous, a suite at a hotel (The Ritz) filled with models wearing the collection as they hung out, mostly lounging. The clothes were mostly mod-inspired, pieces I could easily see worn by Twiggy in the 60s. Definitely the most colorful collection I've seen so far, and the designers seem to do their own thing. Check out my pics!
