Project Runway Finale

Well, the Project Runway finale show has happened and they had even more decoys than usual! Unless they had a top four again - who knows! Here is everybody's collections, the only spoiler is actually seeing the clothes - we don't even know who the official top designers are, much less who won. But I'd certainly take a guess...

alice + olivia S/S 09

The alice + olivia collection was presented in their midtown store. The pieces seemed to be garden inspired; floral print dresses and light separates made up most of the collection. There were several pieces that seemed to be dissimilar to the rest of the collection, such as a silver romper, but were cute nonetheless. My favorite was a strapless white maxi dress with a pink large floral print.

Matthew Williamson S/S 09

Matthew Williamson’s collection was very young and vibrant, and seemed to be less boho than previous collections. The show started with lots of hot pink and red, went into shades of peach, lime-yellow, and mint green, transitioned to darker florals and prints of black, magenta, and purple, and ended with black cocktail-ish dresses with layered pink and purple petals. There were lots of sequins and beads….they appeared on most pieces.Matthew Williamson S/S 09

Ports 1961 S/S 09

Whew, only a few more shows left to cover...
Last season the Ports 1961 show was a mad house of frenzy and not a single person waiting for standing got in! This year, little ol' me was placed in the front row of the center of the U-shaped catwalk!
Even though I had an amazing seat, I was a little underwhelmed with the show, the collection felt a bit old. I would highly recommend the line for my mom, but definitely not for me... They did have some fun hats by Karen Henriksen, and Cowboy Junkies played during the show live!
Ports 1961 S/S 09Here are some of the cuter pieces shown:

Hanii Y S/S 09

Hanii Y is an up and coming designer that I fell in love with while shopping at Bendel's one day. The presentation was fun, models stood around in the clothes and you walked around the exhibit freely - it felt a bit like being in a model museum though. The collection was inspired by summer nights in Denmark and mixed masculine and feminine details beautifully.

Diesel Black Gold S/S '09

The Diesel show was in the biggest tent and my pictures are crap so I will use the professional ones here. If I had to describe the collection it would be mad hatter military goth grunge. I wasn't really big on the distressed, pale denim but certain pieces definitely stood out.
Cute military-inspired dress!

I like how this dress drapes.

More boyfriend jeans!

That neck harness/suspender thing looks very similar to a piece I posted recently...
These jeans have super cool distressed detailing, but I find knee pads to be a bit too... suggestive.
The crazy hats backstage.
A close up of the make up backstage after the show.
I'm about 80% sure this is Petra Nemcova, anyone want to confirm for me?

Jill Stuart S/S 09

Jill Stuart's spring/summer collection seemed to be inspired by a perfect blend of a ballerina and a whimsical fairy. The pieces were very floaty and feminine in mostly sorbet shades of white, pale celadon, pale pink, peach, and light grey. The collection focused on lots of wispy layers, mostly in dresses and skirts, with several outfits shown with leggings, wide leg pants, or harem pants. The entire collection is very gorgeous and very wearable; definitely to be coveted!

Lindsay Price was there!
